INTERMITTENT STEADY SPEED STUMBLE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS (55 MPH and ABOVE)

APPLICABLE MODELS
All 1995-96 B-Series with calibration codes listed in the Parts Information.

IMPORTANT:

This repair is not authorized for vehicles with other than the listed calibration codes. Performing this repair on other engine calibrations is
unauthorized and may be in violation of state and federal law.

DESCRIPTION

An intermittent steady speed stumble may be experienced at highway speeds. This stumble is felt as a momentary loss of power or a miss. The stumble
may be caused by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) sending the wrong signals to the fuel injectors. A modified PCM is available to connect this
concern.

Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle inspected and if necessary, repaired according to this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1.

Confirm that the vehicle calibration code is listed in the Parts Information section of this bulletin, and that the vehicle does not have the latest 
PCM calibration already installed. Refer to the Parts Information.

If the vehicle has one of these calibrations and there is no "Authorization Modification Decal" on the radiator support indicating this bulletin
number, proceed to step 2.

If the vehicle does not have one of these calibrations or has already had the modified PCM installed, refer the workshop manual for
troubleshooting and repair information.

NOTE:

The calibration code is located on the driver's side "B" pillar.

2.

Perform KOEO and KOER self-diagnostic procedures. Refer to section F of the workshop manual.

If any DTCs are present, repair as necessary.

3.

Verify that the concern occurs intermittently and only at a steady highway speed.

If the concern does not occur, return the vehicle to the customer.

If the concern is present, proceed to step 4.

4.

Install the modified PCM. Refer to the Parts Information section for correct part usage.

5.

List the date, dealer number and Service Bulletin number on the "Authorized Modification Decal" and install decal on radiator support.

NOTE:

This decal informs technicians of the PCM change if future repairs are necessary.

6.

Confirm the repair and that all DTCs are cleared from PCM memory.
