Oil Pan: Service and Repair
Oil Pan Baffle
Note: For 4x2 vehicles, the engine must be removed to replace the oil pan.
Removal
1. Remove the starter motor.
2. Drain the engine oil.
Caution: Tape the U-joint bearing caps to prevent them from failing off the U-joints.
Caution: Index-mark the front axle pinion flange to the front drive shaft.
3. Remove and discard the bolts and straps. Secure the driveshaft out of the way.
4. Secure the front axle housing to a suitable jack.
5. Remove the three axle housing mounting bolts and lower the axle housing approximately two inches.
