Transmission Speed Sensor: Service and Repair

OSS SENSOR 5R44E / 5R55E REMOVAL / INSTALLATION 

1. Raise and support the vehicle.

2. Disconnect Output Shaft Speed (OSS) sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove OSS sensor.
4. Remove the OSS sensor screw.
5. Remove the OSS sensor from the transmission.

1) Inspect the OSS sensor 0-ring for damage. If damaged, replace the 0-ring.

6. Inspect and lubricate 0-ring with petroleum jelly.
7. Install the (1) OSS sensor into the transmission.

8. Tighten the (2) OSS sensor screw.
9. Connect OSS sensor electrical connector.

10. Lower the vehicle.
