Intake Air Temperature Sensor: Description and Operation

Thermistor type (passive) sensor.

Provides air temperature information to PCM which uses the information as a correction factor in the calculation of fuel, spark and MAF.

Resistance changes with temperature. Electrical resistance decreases as temperature increases and increases as temperature decreases.
