The remote anti-theft personality (RAP) module is on the ISO 9141 communication network. The RAP module controls keyless entry for the vehicle. For

The 4-wheel anti-lock brake control module is on the ISO 9141 communication network. The 4-wheel anti-lock brake control module controls the brake
pressure to the four wheels to keep the vehicle under control while braking. For additional information, refer to 4-WHEEL ANTI-LOCK BRAKE
SYSTEM (4WABS) DIAGNOSIS.

The passive anti-theft system (PATS) module is on the SCP communication network. The PATS module will disable the starting system of the vehicle
and not allow it to start without the correct PATS key. For additional information, refer to PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS.

Inspection and Verification

1. Verify the customer concern.

2. Visually inspect for obvious signs of electrical damage. Refer to the chart:
3. If the concern remains after the inspection, connect NGS Tester to the Data Link Connector (DLC), located beneath the instrument panel, and

select the vehicle to be tested from NGS Tester menu. If NGS Tester does not communicate with the vehicle:
1. Check that the program card is properly installed.
2. Check the connections to the vehicle.
3. Check the ignition switch position is in RUN.

If NGS Tester still does rot communicate with the vehicle, refer to PINPOINT TEST 9: NO MODULE / NETWORK COMMUNICATION - NO
POWER TO THE NGS TESTER THROUGH THE DLC.
