Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal: Service and Repair
REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the oil pan; refer to TIMING CHAIN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.
3. Remove the transmission; refer to MANUAL TRANSMISSION for manual transmission , or MANUAL TRANSMISSION SHIFT
MECHANISM for automatic transmission.
4. Remove the clutch on manual transmission equipped vehicles; refer to CLUTCH.
5. Remove the bolts.
6. Remove the flywheel and flywheel reinforcement plate.
7. Remove the crankshaft rear oil seal using a punch and Jet Plug Remover T77L-9533B or equivalent.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
Crankshaft Rear Oil Seal Installation Note
1. Lubricate the outer lips and the inner seal on the crankshaft rear oil seal.
2. Install the crankshaft rear oil seal using SST.
