DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD - Firestone Tire Recall
Certain 1991 through 1994 Navajo, and 1994 through 2000 B-Series vehicles - Replacement of Firestone P235/75 R15 Radial ATX and Wilderness AT
Tires.
REFERENCE:
Firestone Recall - Firestone P235/75 R15 Radial ATX and Wilderness AT tires.
AFFECTED TIRES AND VEHICLES
Bridgestone Firestone Tire Company recently announced a Safety Recall on the following tires:
1.
All Firestone P235/75 R15 Radial ATX tires produced.
The following vehicles produced with Firestone P235/75 R15 Radial ATX original equipment tires are affected by this recall:

Certain 1991 through 1994 Navajo
^
Certain 1994 through 1996 B-Series vehicles
2.
Firestone P235/75 R15 Wilderness AT tires produced only at the Decatur Illinois plant.
NOTE:
Recalled tires were built at the Decatur Illinois plant and have a DOT code of VDHL - see Attachment II for inspection details.
The following vehicles produced with P235/75 R15 Wilderness AT tires as original equipment are affected by this recall:

Certain 1997 through 2000 B-Series vehicles built prior to February 29, 2000
IMPORTANT NOTE:

Tribute is NOT AFFECTED by this recall.

All other Wilderness tires are NOT AFFECTED by this recall.
IMPORTANT FACTS

This is a FIRESTONE recall.
^
FIRESTONE will notify customers of the recall via first class mail.
^
FIRESTONE will communicate recall information to authorized repair sites.
MAZDA DEALER INVOLVEMENT
Mazda Dealers will not have direct involvement in the replacement of customer's tires, however, dealers should assist customers to determine whether
their tires are subject to the Firestone Recall. If a tire is affected by the recall, customers should be directed to their local Firestone outlet for recall
completion.
SERVICE PROCEDURE

All Firestone P235/75 R15 tires with Radial ATX on the sidewall must be replaced under this recall by a local Firestone outlet.
^
Firestone P235/75 R15 tires with Wilderness AT on the sidewall will need to be inspected for a DOT code of VDHL to determine if
replacement is required. Replacement will be performed by a local Firestone outlet.
DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD FOR NEW VEHICLES
Do not demonstrate or deliver any vehicles with recalled tires prior to completing the Firestone recall. Mazda vehicles produced on, or after, February
29, 2000 are not included in the Firestone recall. Violation of this requirement by a dealer could result in a civil penalty of up to $1,100 per vehicle.
REPLACEMENT OF TIRES FOR NEW 'IN STOCK' VEHICLE INVENTORY
Verify if new inventory vehicles have tires subject to recall (See Attachment II for inspection procedure). If any tire on the vehicle is subject to this
recall, contact a local Firestone retailer for tire replacement. If all tires have been inspected and are not subject to the recall, the vehicle may be sold.
