Axle Bearing: Service and Repair
AXLE TUBE BEARING REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
REMOVAL NOTE
1. Remove the right-hand drive axle shaft.
2. Remove the right-hand axle shaft.
3. Use Special Service Tools (SSTs) to remove the axle seal.
4. Use an axle bearing remover T94P-77001-KH or equivalent, SST 49 0223 630B (slide hammer) and adapter 49 UN1 1011 to remove the axle
tube bearing.
5. Clean the bearing and seal surfaces of any foreign debris.
INSTALLATION NOTE
1. Use the Axle Bushing Replacer and SST 49 F027 003 (driver handle) to replace the RH a)de tube bearing.
2. Set bearing depth as shown.
3. Use the SSTs T87P-3254A or equivalent and 49 F027 003 to replace the axle tube seal.
CAUTION: Care should betaken not to damage the axle seal surface.
4. Install the axle shaft.
5. Refill the front drive axle to proper level using Axle Lubricant meeting specification API Service GL-5.
6. Install the RH driveshaft.
