Fan Blade: Service and Repair
REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the engine coolant.
3. Remove the cooling fan and clutch assembly.
a. Remove the two fan shroud attaching screws and lift the fan shroud out of the two lower attaching clips.
b. Remove the nut attaching the clutch to the water pump using SST# 49 UN01 008 and 49 UN01 007 fan clutch removal tools.
CAUTION: The nut which attaches the clutch to the water pump shaft has a left-hand thread and must be rotated clockwise for removal.
4. Remove the cooling fan from the clutch.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the cooling fan to the fan clutch and tighten to 6-8 Nm (53-70 inch lbs.)
2. Install the clutch on the water pump using SST# 49 UN01 008 and 49 UN01 007 fan clutch removal tools and tighten to 41-135 Nm (30-100 ft.
lbs.)
3. Install the fan shroud and tighten the bolts to 6-8 Nm (53-70 inch lbs.).
4. Fill the coolant.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Bleed the cooling system.
