TEMPERATURE GAUGE FLUCTUATES OR INDICATES HIGH TEMPERATURE
APPLICABLE MODELS:
All 1993-94 Navajo Vehicles
All 1994 B-3000 Vehicles
All 1994 B-4000 Vehicles
DESCRIPTION:
Temperature gauges in the above vehicles may experience one of the following symptoms. These symptoms occur when the vehicle is idling and the
coolant system is functioning properly.

High Temperature reading (within the upper 1/3 of the NORMAL range)
^
Excessive gauge indicator fluctuation (within the NORMAL range) (Specifically B-4000 and Navajo vehicles)
The temperature gauge fluctuation is caused by the temperature gauge and the sending unit correctly indicating the engine temperature.
Appearance of high temperatures or gauge fluctuation result from design characteristics which create very sensitive gauge indications. This performance
may be inconsistent with customer expectations.
A "Temperature Indication Service Kit" is available for customer concerns. when installed, the Temperature Indication Service Kit will result in a
pointer indication near the center of the NORMAL range (at normal operating temperatures) while providing protection from boil-over conditions.
NOTE:
1993 Navajo vehicles built between 1/1/93 and 4/1/93 may experience high temperature gauge readings due to improperly manufactured temperature
sending units installed during assembly. These sending units:

Have an "A3" stamped on the units hex.
^
Indicate coolant temperature approximately 3/4" of the total gauge travel towards highside (when actual engine operating temperature is normal).
This concern is not associated with the above design characteristics of the gauge and sending unit.
