5. Accelerate the vehicle to 88 km/h (55 mph). Set the rotate rear select switch to the fourth gear position.

NOTE:  The vehicle should shift to fourth gear before torque converter lock up is tested. If the vehicle does not shift to fourth gear check the
3-4 shift solenoid. (Refer to 3-4 Shift Solenoid Testing and Inspection.)

6. Hold speed steady at 88 km/h (55 mph). Depress the torque converter clutch switch.

7. If lockup does not occur, replace the torque converter clutch solenoid.

NOTE:  When lockup occurs, engine speed will reduce.

8. If lockup occurs, the torque converter clutch solenoid is OK.
