Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid Test

1. Perform the Tester Hook-up Procedure.
2. Set the rotate gear select switch to the first gear position.
3. Place the selector lever in the P position.
4. Start the vehicle.
5. Accelerate the vehicle to 88 km/h (55mph). Set the rotate rear select switch to the fourth gear position.

Note: The vehicle should shift to fourth gear. If the vehicle did not shift to fourth gear check the 3-4 shift solenoid.

6. Hold speed steady at 88 km/h (55 mph). Depress the torque converter clutch switch.
7. If lockup does not occur, replace the torque converter clutch solenoid.

Note: When lockup occurs, engine speed will reduce.

8. If lockup occurs, the torque converter clutch solenoid is OK.
