DESCRIPTION
A loose fit may occur when installing a door lock cylinder into a new replacement door on a 1994-96 vehicle or the original door on a 1996 vehicle.
The door lock cylinder hole diameter was increased in preparation for a new style lock cylinder. To provide a tighter fit, a door lock cylinder spacer has
been added to certain vehicles in the 1996 production.
The spacer is available for use with new doors (larger hole) using the current door lock cylinder.
NOTE:
Some 1996 vehicles may be built with spacers on one side only. This is due to the balance of supplies of right and left doors at the assembly plant at
the time of model year changeover.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
Whenever the door lock is removed:
1.
Check for a door lock cylinder spacer.

If the spacer is present, check for damage and replace as necessary.
2.
If no spacer is present and the door is being replaced (i.e. new door), measure the diameter of the cylinder hole.

Holes 24 mm or larger, require a spacer.

Holes smaller than 24 mm do not require a spacer. Refer to Fig. 1.
NOTE:
If the original door was assembled with a spacer, one is not needed if the hole diameter is less than 24 mm.
