DESCRIPTION
Vehicles may experience a thump noise from the heater core that may be accompanied by excessive temperature gauge fluctuation. This noise is caused
by the water pump delivering an uneven flow throughout the engine. A modified water pump is available to reduce this concern.
Customers complaining of this noise should have the vehicle inspected, and if necessary, the water pump replaced.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify the concern.

If the noise is present, replace the water pump according to the workshop manual.

If the noise is not present but the temperature gauge fluctuates, refer to the workshop manual for troubleshooting and repair information.
CAUTION:
Follow all precautions listed in the workshop manual.
NOTE:
Verification should be conducted on a cold engine during the warm-up cycle.
