Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
PREPARATION
Before adjusting the sensor, remove the following components:
1. Air cleaner outlet tube
2. Transmission dipstick (AT model only)
3. Upper intake manifold
After adjusting the sensor, install the following components:
1. Upper intake manifold
2. Transmission dipstick (AT model only)
3. Air cleaner outlet tube
ADJUSTMENT
1. Turn the ignition key to the LOCK position. Make sure that the parking brake is engaged and the transmission is in either (Park) or (Neutral).
2. Rotate crankshaft until TDC mark on the damper is accessible.
3. If not present, place an additional mark on the damper at 26 degrees After Top Dead Center (ATDC). This position is 34 mm (1.34 in)
counterclockwise from the Top Dead Center (TDC) mark.
4. Position No. 1 cylinder to TDC between compression and ignition stroke.
Note: Both intake and exhaust valves must be closed with TDC mark on vibration damper at pointer.
