Starter Motor: Description and Operation
Conventional Type

A conventional type starter uses four individually wound magnets to produce a strong magnetic field which, in turn, forces the armature to turn against
these fields. Because these magnetic fields are constantly opposing themselves, the starter engages until power is lost to the plunger.
