DESCRIPTION
Some vehicle equipped with 4.0L OHV engine and automatic transmission may exhibit a noise or vibration, no drive engagement, unusual noise during
cranking or a no crank condition. This may be caused by a cracked flex plate/drive plate.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Verify starter operates properly:

Starter operates properly, proceed to step 3.

Starter does not operate properly, diagnose using appropriate workshop manual (Section G ENGINE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM).
3.
Replace flex plate/drive plate using workshop manual (section K DRIVE PLATE Removal / Installation).
4.
Verify repair.
