Brake Caliper: Service and Repair
Overhaul
NOTE:

Clean all metal parts with isopropyl alcohol. Then clean out and dry the grooves and passageways with compressed air.

Check the cylinder bore and pistons for damage or excessive wear. Replace the pistons if they show signs of pitting, scoring, cracks or rust.
Overhaul Of Brake Caliper
1. Disassemble in the order shown in the figure, noting the following:
a. 1 Place a piece of wood 38 mm x 38 mm x 150 mm (1.5 inch x 1.5 inch x 6 inch) the caliper.
b. Blow compressed air through the pipe hole to force the pistons out of the caliper.
WARNING: Use only enough air pressure to remove the pistons from the caliper.
2. Inspect all parts, repair or replace if necessary.
3. Assemble in reverse order of disassembly.
