6. Tighten the U-bolt nuts to 88 - 102 Nm (65 - 75 ft. lbs.).
SIDE-TO-SIDE LEAN
Side-to-side vehicle lean should be verified by measuring the fender lip-to-ground dimension before beginning diagnosis and service actions. The
following are the normal acceptance limits:
^
Maximum of 16mm (5/8 inch) variance between left and right front wheel lips to ground.
^
Maximum of 20mm (3/4 inch) variance between left and right rear wheel lips to ground.
1. Perform the preinspection steps 1 - 13 first.
2. Measure the height of the right and left fender lip openings, dimensions A and B noting dimensions of each and side-to-side differences.
3. If the differences are greater than 16mm (0.63 inch) between left or right front and/or 20 mm (0.79 inch) between left and right rear,
factors other than suspension are the cause.
Toe Adjustment
Total Toe-In
1. Loosen the clamp bolts at each end of the spindle connecting rod tube.
2. Rotate the sleeve until the correct toe adjustment is obtained.
