Fuel Pressure Regulator: Description and Operation
FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR
Regulates fuel pressure supplied to injectors. Excess fuel is bypassed through regulator and returned through fuel return line to fuel tank.
Operation
Regulator is a diaphragm operated relief valve. One side of diaphragm senses fuel pressure and other side is connected to intake manifold vacuum.
Balancing one side of diaphragm with manifold vacuum maintains a constant fuel pressure drop across injectors.
