DESCRIPTION
The Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) may illuminate with Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) P1151 / P1131 (oxygen sensor lean - not switching)
and/or P0171 / P0174 (air fuel mixture on lean side) stored in continuous memory. The NGS may also indicate a long fuel trim of 15% or higher in
freeze frame data. These symptoms may be accompanied by a rough idle and/or stall at idle concern. This condition(s) may be caused by a vacuum leak
due to a failed gasket between the fuel distribution rail and the lower intake manifold.
Customers complaining of this concern should have the vehicle repaired according to the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Verify that the vacuum leak is coming from the lower intake manifold gasket.
^
If a leak is present, proceed to step 3.
^
If a leak is not present, proceed to the Workshop Manual for troubleshooting information.
3.
Remove the upper intake manifold and fuel distribution rail according to section F3 of the Workshop Manual.
4.
Remove old upper and lower gaskets along with old residue and install new gaskets.
5.
Install in reverse order of removal. Refer to section F3 of the Workshop Manual.
