Vehicle Speed Sensor: Service and Repair
REPLACEMENT
1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the vehicle speed sensor on the transfer case.
3. Remove the retaining bolt.
4. Remove the vehicle speed sensor.
5. Remove the speedometer gear retainer.
6. Remove the driven gear.
7. Install a new driven gear on a new vehicle speed sensor.
8. Secure the speedometer driven gear with the retainer.
9. Install the new vehicle speed sensor in the transfer case.
Tighten the retaining bolt to 2.5 Nm (22 inch lbs.).
10. Connect the vehicle speed sensor electrical connector.
11. Lower the vehicle.
