Air Bag Deactivation Switch: Service and Repair
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect positive battery cable.
3. Wait one minute. This is the time required for back-up power supply in the air bag diagnostic monitor to deplete its stored energy.
4. Remove cupholders and front console (it equipped).
5. Remove ashtray assembly from I/P.
6. Remove in the order shown.
7. Install in reverse order of removal. Tighten retaining screws to 2 - 3 N.m (21 - 30 kg cm/ 18 - 26 lb.in.)
8. Cycle ignition switch to prove out air bag system.
Passenger Air Deactivation (PAD) Switch
1. Electrical connectors (2).

Remove gray connector by prying plastic clips out of hole in gray reinforcement.

Remove black connector by prying plastic clips out of hole in steel reinforcement.
2. PAD Switch Trim.
3. PAD Switch Mounting Screws (2).
4. PAD Switch.
