Overdrive Assembly: Service and Repair

DISASSEMBLY  

Disassemble in the order shown in the illustration, referring to the following steps:

1. Remove the overdrive center shaft retaining ring from the overdrive ring gear.

2. Remove the overdrive center shaft from the overdrive ring gear.

3. Inspect the rollers and springs for excessive wear or damage. Inspect the spring and roller cage for bent or damaged spring retainers.

CAUTION:  Do not remove the overdrive one-way clutch. Damage to the clutch may occur if it is removed.
