NOTE:

The one-way clutch is serviced with the center shaft.

Clean and inspect the one-way clutch and center shaft assembly. Check for cracks in the roller cage and wear on the roller clutch. Inspect the
press fit of the one-way roller clutch to the center shaft.

4. Temporarily insert the planetary gear overdrive carrier assembly into the one-way clutch rollers for verification of the one-way clutch. The planet

must rotate counterclockwise as shown. Remove the planetary gear overdrive carrier assembly.

INSPECTION 

Inspect all parts and repair or replace as necessary.

ASSEMBLY 

Assemble in the reverse order of disassembly, referring to the following steps:

1. Install the center shaft and one-way clutch into the ring gear.

2. Install the center shaft retaining ring.

3. Check the pins and shafts in the planet assemblies for loose fit and/or complete disengagement. Use a new planet assembly if either condition

exists. Before installing a planet assembly, the shaft retaining pins should be checked for adequate staking.

Inspect the pinion gears for damaged or excessively worn teeth.

Check for free rotation of the pinion gears. Inspect the one-way clutch inner race for scoring.
