Torque Converter: Testing and Inspection
End Play Check
1. Install the Special Service Tool (SST) as shown in the illustration.
2. Expand the sleeve in the turbine splice by tightening the inner post.
3. Install a dial indicator onto the SST with the pointer touching the torque converter. Set the dial indicator to zero.
4. Lift the tool upward as far as it will go and note the reading.
5. Replace the torque converter if reading exceeds the specification.
