Flywheel: Testing and Inspection
1. Inspect the flywheel for cracks, heat check, or other damage that would make it unfit for further use.
2. Acceptable flywheels may be repaired by polishing with fine grade (400 grit) sandpaper. Flywheels may be resurfaced to remove scratches or
grooves. After resurfacing, the flywheel thickness must be less than the dimensions listed below.
Dimension A: 25.95 mm (1.02 in)
Dimension B: 28.45 mm (1.12 in)
NOTE: Dimension "A" is the minimum acceptable dimension from the crankshaft mounting surface to the new resurfaced clutch face surface.
Dimension "B" is the referenced minimum acceptable dimension for the overall width of the outer edge.
3. Mount the flywheel rigidly on the crankshaft mounting flange.
Surface runout: 0.13 mm (0.005 in) TIR
Surface finish: 4.0/1.3 micrometer (160/52 microinch)
4. The major diameter of dowel pin (press-fit diameter) must not extend above the new surface.
5. The clutch cover retaining bolts must screw into the flywheel under hand torque to within 1.52 mm (0.06 in) of new surface.
6. Flywheels with dimensions less than the charted dimensions must not be used; install a new flywheel.
