If striker bar and locking-latch mechanism meet correctly, perform additional diagnostics to determine the source of the noise. See Workshop
Manual (section 09-01I TROUBLESHOOTING [BODY SYSTEMS]).

If striker bar and locking-latch mechanism DO NOT meet correctly, proceed to STEP 3.

Correctly position striker bar by lightly tapping it with a rubber/plastic mallet as necessary.
4.
Verify repair.

All 1999-2000 B-Series (4-door model).
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a creaking, squeaking or tapping noise coming from the rear door(s) area while driving over bumps and/or during a hard turn
while stopping. This may be caused by the rear door striker(s) being positioned incorrectly.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE

Verify customer concern.

Verify concern by driving on non-smooth surfaces. The sound may also be present when the vehicle is in a body- flex situation, such as
making a turn while going up a driveway.
