Parking Brake Cable: Service and Repair
Rear
REAR PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the parking brake pedal is fully released and relieve the tension on the parking brake system.
(1 Pull down on the front parking brake cable and conduit.
2. Insert a 4 mm (5/32-inch) drill bit or equivalent retainer.
3. Raise and support the vehicle.
4. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
5. Disconnect the intermediate cable from the LH rear cable.
6. Separate the RH rear cable from LH rear cable and conduit at equalizer.
7. Remove RH rear cable and conduit from slot bracket.
(1 Compress the parking brake cable clip.
(2 Remove the RH rear cable from slot bracket.
8. Remove the LH parking brake rear cable and conduit from the rear parking brake cable retainer.
9. Remove the RH rear cable from the RH hydraulic brake line clips.
10. Unclip the rear cable from the brake line clip on top of the rear axle housing.
11. Disconnect the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever.
12. Compress the retainer fingers and remove the rear cable.
