Fuel Pressure Pulsation Damper: Service and Repair
FUEL PULSE DAMPER REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
Removal Note
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the upper intake manifold.
3. Remove the vacuum line at the fuel pulse damper.
4. Remove the screws.
5. Remove the fuel pulse damper.
Installation Note
1. Lubricate the O-rings with clean engine oil.
2. Tighten the screws.
3. Install fuel pulse damper.
4. Install the vacuum hose.
FUEL PULSE DAMPER - 4.0L REMOVAL / INSTALLATION
WARNING: Do not smoke or carry any lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel-related components.
Highly flammable mixtures are always present and may be ignited. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
WARNING: Fuel in the fuel system remains under high pressure even when the engine is not running. Before working on or disconnecting any
of the fuel lines or fuel system components, the fuel system pressure must be relieved. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal
injury.
1. Remove the fuel rail.
2. Remove the two bolts, the fuel pulse damper and the O-ring seals.
CAUTION: Use O-ring seals that are made of special fuel-resistant material. Use of ordinary O-ring seals can cause the fuel system to leak. Do
not reuse O-ring seals.
NOTE: Lubricate the new O-ring seals with clean engine oil to aid installation.
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
