INACCURATE FUEL GAUGE
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
All 2001 B-2300, B-3000, and B-4000 built before 3/26/01.
DESCRIPTION
Some vehicles may exhibit a fuel gauge that drops from "FULL" too quickly or indicates less than the actual fuel in the tank (excessive fuel in reserve).
Customers may report the concern as "poor fuel economy" or "the fuel tank will not hold the advertised capacity." These symptoms may be caused by an
inaccurate fuel pump assembly.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Confirm that no other condition is causing this concern by performing the symptom troubleshooting POOR FUEL ECONOMY in section 01 of the
Workshop Manual.

If symptoms are have been determined to be caused by the fuel pump assembly, proceed to STEP 3.

If symptoms are found to be caused by reasons other than the fuel pump assembly, refer to Workshop Manual referenced procedure(s).
3.
Replace fuel pump assembly with modified part according to Workshop Manual section 01-14.
4.
Verify repair.
