Subject:
LOW ENGINE RPM COLD / STALL AT CLUTCH RELEASE
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)/VINs
2001 B4000.
DESCRIPTION
Some 2001 B4000 vehicles may exhibit a low engine RPM during initial cold start up and/or an engine quits upon clutch disengagement or during
deceleration. This concern may be caused by a loose PVC Closure Tube at the valve cover and/or the calibration of the Powertrain Control Module
(PCM).
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Perform normal diagnosis using the Workshop Manual.
-
If the condition is corrected, return the vehicle to the customer.
-
If the condition is still present, install one hose damp to the PCV Closure Tube where the elbow mates the valve cover.
3.
Locate the Catch Word and re-program the PCM only if the Catch Word is listed on the "PCM Calibration Chart".
