Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair
Replacement
1. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor harness connector from the reservoir.
2. With the engine off, push the brake pedal down to expel vacuum from the power brake unit.
3. Disconnect the brake pipes from the master cylinder.
4. Remove the wrap-around clip and nut from the power brake unit master cylinder mounting stud.
5. Remove in the order shown in the figure.
6. Install in the reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Adjust push rod.

Tighten mounting nuts to 22-28 Nm (16-21 ft. lbs.).

Tighten line nuts to 15-20 Nm (11-14 ft. lbs.).
7. After installation, add brake fluid, bleed air, and check for leaks. See: Brake Bleeding/Service and Repair
