Engine Oil: Service and Repair
INSPECTION
1. Position the vehicle on level ground.
2. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
3. Turn the vehicle off and wait for five minutes.
4. Remove the oil dipstick and check the oil level and condition.
NOTE: The oil level should be filled to the top of the dashed part of the dipstick.
5. Add or replace as necessary.
OIL REPLACEMENT
1. Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.
2. Remove the oil filler cap and oil drain plug.
3. Drain the oil into a suitable container.
4. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Tightening torque: 21 - 28 Nm (15 - 21 ft. lbs.).
5. Refill the engine with the specified type and amount of engine oil.
OIL FILTER REPLACEMENT
1. Remove the oil filter from the oil adapter.
2. Clean the cylinder block mating surface.
3. Apply a small amount of clean engine oil to the oil gasket of the new filter.
4. Install the oil filter and tighten it by hand until the oil gasket contacts the adapter.
5. Tighten the filter 1/2 turn.
6. Start the engine and check for leaks.
7. Check oil level and add if necessary.
