Timing Chain: Service and Repair

ENGINE FRONT COVER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION 

1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Remove the oil pan; refer to Oil Pan Removal/Installation.
3. Remove the crankshaft pulley; refer to Crankshaft Pulley Removal/Installation.

4. Disconnect the lower radiator hose.
5. Disconnect the heater water hose.

6. Disconnect the engine control sensor wiring from the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor.
7. Disconnect the generator; refer to Generator Removal/Installation.
8. Remove the drive belt tensioner; refer to Belt Tensioner Removal/Installation.

Alternator Bracket

9. Remove the bolts and the generator mounting bracket.

A/C Bracket

10. Remove the A/C bracket-to-water pump brace.
