Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley: Service and Repair

CRANKSHAFT PULLEY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION 

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.
3. Remove the fan blade and the fan shroud.
4. Remove the drive belt.

5. Remove the bolt and washer.

Discard the bolt.

6. Using Crankshaft Damper Remover Special Service Tool (SST) 49 UN01 001, remove the crankshaft pulley.

7. If required, remove the crankshaft key.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Crankshaft Pulley Installation Note 
1. Using Damper and Replacer Special Service Tool (SST) 49 UN01 002, install the crankshaft pulley. 

1. Coat the sealing surfaces of the crankshaft pulley with clean engine oil. 
2. Coat the crankshaft pulley keyway with silicone. 
3. Install the crankshaft pulley.

2. Install a new bolt and the washer.

Tighten the bolt in two steps. 

1. Tighten the bolt to the correct specification.

Tightening Torque: 40 - 50 Nm (4.1 - 5.1 kgf.m, 30 - 37 ft. lbs.) 

2. Tighten an additional 80 - 90 degrees.
