REAR LUG BOLTS REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Caution: Never use a hammer to remove the lug bolt. Damage to the axle flange, hub flange, wheel bearing or hub bearing can result.
1. Raise the vehicle and install safety stands.
2. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
3. Remove the rear brake drum.
4. Using C-Frame and clamp assembly or equivalent, press the lug bolt from its seat and discard.
INSTALLATION NOTE
Caution: Never use air tools to install lug bolts. The serrations can be stripped from the stud.
1. Insert a new lug bolt in the hole in the axle flange, making sure serrations are aligned with those made by the original lug bolt.
2. Seat new lug bolt in axle flange.
1) Place four flatwashers over the outside end of the lug bolt.
2) Thread a standard lug nut with the flat side against the washers.
3) Tighten the lug nut until the lug bolt head seats against the back side of the flange.
3. Remove the lug nut and flatwashers.
4. Install the rear brake drum.
5. Install the wheel and tire assembly.
6. Lower the vehicle.
