Catalytic Converter: Service and Repair

THREE-WAY CATALYTIC CONVERTER REMOVAL / INSTALLATION

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the downstream oxygen connector.
3. Remove the downstream oxygen sensor.
4. Remove the muffler and tailpipe.
5. Remove the nuts.

Note:

The exhaust hanger bracket insulators can be reused if they show no signs of damage.

6. Remove the three-way catalytic converter and the exhaust outlet pipe frame brackets.
7. Install the exhaust inlet pipe gasket, the three-way catalytic converter and the exhaust outlet pipe frame brackets.
8. Install the nuts.

Tightening torque: 25 - 35 Nm (2.6 - 3.6 kgf.m, 19 - 25 ft. lbs.)

9. Install the muffler and tailpipe.

10. Lower the vehicle.
