Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Disconnect the connector and remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor from the camshaft synchronizer.
3. Install in reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque:
2.5 - 3.5 Nm { 26 - 36 kg.cm, 23 - 30 in.lb }
CAMSHAFT SYNCHRONIZER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
REMOVAL NOTE
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove the camshaft position (CMP) sensor.
3. Remove synchronizer mounting bolt and synchronizer.
NOTE: The oil pump driveshaft might come out with the camshaft synchronizer. If so, retrieve the oil pump drive shaft before proceeding.
INSTALLATION NOTE
CAUTION: Do not turn the crankshaft or the camshaft during the removal and Installation procedure or the fuel system timing will be out
of time with the engine and possibly cause engine damage.
1. Rotate the (1) crankshaft until the No.1 cylinder is at TDC of the compression stroke and the (2) TDC mark lines up with the (3) timing mark.
