A/T - Slipping/Shift Delayed or No Engagement
Bulletin No.

Section:

Issued:

Subject:
A/T SLIPPING / SHIFT DELAYED OR NO ENGAGEMENT
APPLICABLE MODEL(S)VINS:
All 1999 B-Series with automatic transmissions (A/T).
DESCRIPTION
Transmission slips during shifts and/or delayed or no transmission engagement may occur on some vehicles. The Electronic Pressure Control (EPC)
solenoid may cause stress on its attaching bracket. This stress causes the bracket to break and the EPC solenoid to back out of its bore. This may allow
line pressure to drop too low or fluctuate and the transmission friction clutches to slip.
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Verify customer concern.
2.
Perform Workshop Manual preliminary inspection and diagnostic procedures (AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION DIAGNOSIS) including line
pressure tests, AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SPECIAL TESTING PROCEDURES). Be sure fluid condition is checked.
-
If contamination is found, follow Workshop Manual procedures.
-
If pressures are low, perform pinpoint test for the EPC solenoid.
