15. Remove the power steering, fluid cooler (3).
16. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose (1).
17. Disconnect the power steering return hose.
18. Plug the ends of all fluid lines removed and ports in the steering gear to prevent damage and entry of air.
19. Rotate the steering column shaft as needed to access the steering column coupling pinch bolt. Remove and discard the pinch bolt.
20. Lower the vehicle.
21. Turn the ignition key to the locked position.
22. Raise the vehicle.
Caution: Do not rotate the steering wheel when the lower steering column shaft is disconnected, or damage to the air bag eliding contact will
result.
23. Disconnect the intermediate shaft from the steering gear.
Caution: Hold the tops of the steering gear to crossmember stud bolts to avoid damaging the steering gear fluid transfer tubes.
