32. Fill transmission to the proper fluid level.
Note: Use Mazda ATF TYPE 5 fluid.
33. Drive vehicle and check shift points, shift schedule and shift shock.
Valve Body Harness
Control Valve Body Harness Removal/Installation
Removal Note
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
2. Raise and support the vehicle.
3. Disconnect vehicle harness from transmission case (16 pin) connector.
4. Drain the transmission fluid.
Note: The control assembly does not need to be removed.
5. Remove the transmission oil strainer bolt.
6. Remove the transmission oil strainer.
7. Remove main control valve body wire loom.

Carefully lift up on wire loom guide and protector and disengage the retaining pins from the solenoid clamps.
8. Disconnect the solenoid electrical connectors.
1) Disconnect the SS1, SS2, SS3 and the CCS/SS4 electrical connectors.
2) Disconnect the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) solenoid electrical connector.
3) Disconnect the Electronic Pressure Control (EPC) solenoid electrical connector.
Caution:

The TCC solenoid and converter modulator valve may pop out of its bore. This may damage the solenoid or converter modulator valve.

Shift solenoids may pop out of their bore. This may damage the solenoids.
