Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Limited Slip Differential
REAR WHEEL BEARING AND OIL SEAL (LIMITED SLIP) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
Removal Note
1. Remove the axle shaft.
Note: If the inner wheel bearing oil seal is leaking, the axle housing vent may be plugged with debris.
2. Use Impact Slide Hammer SST 49-0223-630B, Rear Axle Bearing Remover Special Service Tool (SST) 49-UN01-033 and Adapter SST
49-UN11-101 to remove the rear axle bearing and inner wheel bearing oil seal.
Installation Note
1. Lubricate the new rear wheel bearing with rear axle lubricant.
2. Use Driver Handle Special Service Tool (SST) 49-F027-003 and Axle Tube Bearing Replacer SST 49-U N01 -033 to install the rear wheel
bearing.
3. Lubricate the lip of the new inner wheel bearing oil seal with appropriate grease.
4. Use Driver Handle SST 49-F027-003 and Axle Tube Bearing Replacer SST 49-U N01 -033 to install the inner wheel bearing oil seal.
5. Install the axle shaft.
