FUEL PUMP PRESSURE TEST

Checking Fuel Pressure

1.

Disconnect fuel hose "A" from carburetor and connect to fuel pressure gauge. 

2.

Disconnect fuel return hose from pump and plug pump outlet to return hose.

3.

Start engine and let idle while observing pressure on gauge.

3.7 - 4.7 psi (26 - 32 kPa)

If pressure is not within specified range, replace pump.

 
FUEL PUMP VOLUME TEST

1.

Disconnect fuel hose from carburetor and direct end of hose into a graduated cylinder or other suitable measuring container.

2.

Start engine and let idle for 60 seconds, then shut engine off.

3.

Note volume of fuel pumped into measuring container.

29 oz. (860 cc)

If volume pumped is less than specified, check in-line fuel filter and filter screen in tank. Replace as necessary. If filters are OK and volume is low,
replace pump.
