Accelerator Pump Components
The accelerator pump provides additional fuel when the throttle valve is opening. As the throttle valve opens, a quantity of air passes through the
carburetor before any significant increase in velocity occurs in the venturi. This creates a very lean condition and a serious hesitation. To overcome this
tendency to stumble on acceleration, the accelerator pump plunger pumps fuel into the venturi to mix with the lean air charge.
