Voltage Signal: Description and Operation
Distributor Signals
Distributor
The crank angle sensor in the electronic ignition system distributor generates two signals monitored by the ECU.
The "G" signal detects #1 cylinder TDC and is utilized by the ECU to calculate fuel injection timing.
The "Ne" signal is an engine speed (rpm) signal utilized by the ECU in its control calculations for several output devices:
Fuel injection timing and quantity
Idle speed control valve
Purge control solenoid valve
Pressure regulator control solenoid valve
Airflow sensor burn-off
Circuit opening relay
Ignition timing control (igniter)
