Deceleration Valve: Testing and Inspection
1.
Disconnect carburetor electrical connector, turn ignition "ON", and check voltage at harness connector terminals with B/W wires.
^
Should be battery voltage.
If not, check wiring for open or short to ground.
2.
Re-connect carburetor electrical connector, start engine and warm up to operating temperature, then let idle.
3.
Ground the "H" terminal of carb electrical connector (Br/B wire) with a jumper wire.
^
Solenoid should "click" and idle speed should increase when terminal is grounded.
If solenoid clicks but idle speed does not change, remove solenoid and check that spring, valve, and O-ring seal are properly installed. If OK,
air/fuel passages, jets or air bleeds in the carburetor may be plugged. If solenoid does not click and engine speed does not change, replace solenoid
valve.
For checking the control signal, see DECELERATION CONTROL SYSTEM
under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS.
