Canister Purge Solenoid: Testing and Inspection
AIR VENT SOLENOID VALVE
Checking Air Vent Solenoid Valve
1.
Remove air cleaner.
2.
Touch solenoid valve on carburetor.
3.
Turn the ignition switch ON and OFF; verify that clicking is felt and heard.
PURGE SOLENOID VALVE INSPECTION
Purge Solenoid Valve
1.
Remove valve.
Purge Control Soleniod Test -- Voltage Applied
2.
Connect hoses to valve as shown.
3.
Blow air through valve from hose "B" and verify that air comes out valve air filter.
4.
Apply battery power and ground valve with jumper wires.
5.
Blow air through valve from hose "B" and verify that air comes out port "A".
6.
If if not as specified, replace valve.
