Choke Thermostat/Heater: Adjustments
FAST IDLE CAM AND CHOKE VALVE
Fast Idle Cam And Choke Valve Clearance
1.
With the engine "OFF", set the throttle lever on the second highest step of the fast idle cam.
2.
Check the clearance "R" (see illustration) between the choke valve and the air horn.
0.024" - 0.045" (0.60mm - 1.14mm)
If clearance is not within specified range, adjust by bending arm "B" (see illustration). If larger adjustments are necessary, adjust by bending the
choke rod.
CHOKE DIAPHRAGM
Checking Choke Diaphragm Adjustment
1.
With the engine "OFF", use a vacuum pump to apply approx. 15"Hg (400mm Hg) vacuum to the choke vacuum pull-off diaphragm.
2.
Open the throttle valve slightly and lightly close the choke valve as far as the vacuum diaphragm will allow.
3.
Check clearance "R" between choke valve and air horn.
0.067" - 0.085" (1.70mm - 2.16mm)
If clearance is not within specified range, adjust by bending the choke lever "D" (see illustration).
