FLUID LEVEL INSPECTION
DESCRIPTION
At the production line, 2.0 liters (2.1 U.S. quarts) of gear oil is poured into the transfer case. This quantity will result in a fluid level 6-12 mm (0.25-0.5
in.) below the filler plug. This fluid level is correct and will cause no damage to the transfer case.
In order to check the fluid level, a special tool must be made since the flange prevents checking the level with a finger. A suitable tool can be made from
a welding rod or a coat hanger to the dimensions shown.
